SANTA SUSANA, Ventura County — The City of Simi Valley’s Waterworks District lists an active construction project to replace roughly 5,354 feet of aging pipeline across the Santa Susana Knolls area.
The city’s project page says crews will replace 2-, 4-, 5- and 6-inch steel and polyethylene pipelines that have needed repeated emergency repairs. The goal is a more reliable distribution system for a neighborhood with hilly streets and a history of water-service problems. The same project list identifies backup generators being added at four reservoir sites to help maintain monitoring and other essential functions during power shutoffs.
The label ‘in construction’ is a general project status, not proof that a particular residential street is closed today. Residents should expect any actual traffic controls or planned interruptions to be communicated separately by the waterworks operator.
What residents should know
Property owners can check the current project list, water service notices and utility contact information before assuming an outage will occur. Emergency or unplanned pipe failures require reporting through the applicable utility’s service channel.
